The CW network silently cancelled the 8 year-old series “Girlfriends” which gave the world 172 episodes. More than a week ago, Monday night was the last two episodes which had no farewell and no finale. Reportedly, cast members were notified by telephone by the creator Mara Brock Akil that the network decided to end the show.
Mara Brock Akil, creator and executive producer stated, “Although it’s always difficult to say goodbye, I choose to focus my energy on the history that Girlfriends has made, the human stories that we told, the beautifully complex images that we projected and the blessings 172 episodes bestowed on us, both personally and professionally.”
