A new study/survey shows that one out of five adults believe it’s ok for a man to slap his wife or girlfriend, a survey has revealed. It seems that Oprah Winfrey’s warning and advice to Rihanna, regarding the alleged assault by boyfriend and singer Chris Brown, comes with shocking evidence. During a taping of Oprah’s special airing of Fridays Live in Chicago, the TV talk show queen, Winfrey spoke on domestic violence saying, “In our country the statistic is one out of four women, that’s what’s reporting… are being battered by their boyfriends. Most don’t tell because they’re afraid that if they tell their parents, their parents will make them break up with them.”

Oprah also warned, “I’ve been saying this to women for years; love doesn’t hurt. And if a man hits you once, he will hit you again. He will hit you again. I don’t care what his plea is, he will hit you again.”

The survey which in even more shocking results states that a total of 40 percent also believed that if a woman has been flirting heavily with a man, she should be held responsible for being sexually assaulted or raped. The survey comes from a Government poll on domestic violence, according to a Daily Mail report.

This comes at a time when many believe that Rihanna may have provoked the fight with/attack of boyfriend Chris Brown by being too ‘controlling’ over him, as previously reported.

The poll taken is expected to work with the development of government processes to prevent domestic violence, but many may have not expected such results as those presented by the surveys.

Though the survey may have asked the question, many would say how would a survey match up if the ’slap question’ were shown with a photo such as the photo of a bruised and battered Rihanna, released by TMZ, or any other possible victims photo of domestic violence. Then enter the photo in as the “measure of the slap(s),” in question, one would think that would surely make for a different result of answers.

Other’s would probably wonder, what was the man/woman ratio in the survey?

  2. Brandon George Says:

The fact is, we don’t have enough evidence to blame either one. We don’t know if Rihanna could of used verbal abuse and maybe physical abuse against Chris in the first place. This could of angered Chris over time? Maybe? Who knows? You shouldn’t put it past anyone. Its too soon to judge.
