Gucci Mane
North Carolina A&T Campus protests against Gucci Mane performing at their university! Gucci Mane has secured his future as a southern rap mogul after serving a bid in 2006 for murder charges. Since then he has emerged as a commercial artist collaborating with acts such as Mario, Mariah Carey, Black Eyed Peas, Omarion & Yo Gotti. Peaking at #50 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Charts, “Wasted”, Gucci’s Hit Single off his latest album, reportedly set to be released Fall 2009, is burning up the club and touching the streets! Seems like the streets wants to reach out and touch Gucci Mane this week as Students and School officials at the North Carolina A&T Campus protest his upcoming performance scheduled for October 31st on the College Grounds.

Fabolous, Trey Songz and Keri Hilson are also in the line up to perform along side Gucci Mane but the school’s student body has expressed grave concern about his presence. The school’s nervousness comes after learning about Gucci’s past murder case and alleged gang affiliation.

“We are trying to determine if this artist can be replaced under the existing contract, how that would be done, and what the fiscal result would be,” says North Carolina Chanceller Harold Martin.

Part of the dilemma was making a decision between an artist who would draw more profit versus an artist with a cleaner image.

“This is frankly exactly the kind of intellectual debate we should be having at this University”, Martin said.

Due to contractual issues and the number of tickets already sold, it may be too late to replace Gucci Mane, concluded the officials at North Carolina A&T after deliberations.
