Actor Mark Wahlberg known as rapper Marky Mark in the early 90’s may be starring in a remake of the 2008 movie ‘Reykjavik-Rotterdam’ directed by Oskar Jonasson. The English version of the movie is set to be written by Aaron Guzikowski and directed by Baltasar Kormakur, the Icelandic actor who produced and starred in the original version of the movie.

According to reports, Mark Wahlberg who has starred in movies such as “The Four Brothers,” “Max Payne,” The Departed,” ‘The Italian Job,” “Boogie Nights,” amongst others, is also set to produce the new version of the movie along with “Entourage” executive producer Stephen Levinson.

The Iceland-Netherlands movie is stated to be about a security guard who became an alcohol smuggler and goes back to smuggling alcohol one last time due to financial hardship.

Meanwhile, as Mark Wahlberg allegedly preps for a remake of the movie, the original movie has been submitted for the Best Foreign Language Movie for 2010 Oscars.

In other news, Mark Wahlberg set to star in the following movies: “The Lovely Bones” scheduled for release on December 11, 2009 alongside Saoirse Ronan, Rachel Weisz, Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, Amanda Michalka, Rose McIver; “Date Night” scheduled to release April 9, 2010 alongside Steve Carell, Tina Fey, rapper Common, Taraji P. Henson, James Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Mila Kunis; “The Fighter” scheduled for release in 2010 alongside Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Melissa Leo and “The Other Guys” expected to release August 6, 2010 alongside Will Ferrell, Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton, Dwayne Johnson, Steve Coogan, Samuel L. Jackson, as well as, possibly Damon Wayans Jr., Craig Robinson and Jonah Hill, among others.
