Mississippi bred rapper David Banner is aiming to please those looking for good music during the economic hardship by giving away his new album “Death of A Popstar.”

After being questioned about a song during an interview with MTV’s Mixtape Daily which features Twista, Knowledge, Scooter and others, the rapper stated that the idea came about after him and his friend 9th Wonder got tired of people complaining that there was no good music, so they began creating the album “Death of A Popstar.”

You’re probably questioning yourself, how will the artist benefit from giving a free album? David Banner says that if people really want to talk about better music you can donate to the website and 50% of the proceeds will be given away to a non-profit organization.

David Banner isn’t the first to release an album for free, artists such as Yung Joc, Drake, Nine Inch Nails, Coldplay, Sir Paul McCartney, among others have also released albums for free to their diehard fans.

“Death of A Popstar” is scheduled to release December 29, 2009.
