Jay-Z To Change His Name to Wifey Beyonce’s Last Name; Shawn Knowles-Carter?!

Hip hop mogul Jay-Z is changing his name to his wifey Beyonce’s last name — well, at least, that’s what reports are saying. Beyonce, whose full name is still listed on the world’s biggest online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, as Beyoncé Giselle Knowles, married Jay-Z whose full name is Shawn Corey Carter, in April 2008, as covered closely on www.HipHopRX.com. By the way, there’s currently no mention of Carter, her husband’s last name on Beyonce’s Wikipedia, but we’re sure that’s due to the lack of contribution.

Now though they both have kept their surnames respectively, they may now be expected to exchange those surnames, with Beyonce becoming Beyonce Knowles-Carter, a named believed to have already been in place, but again not listed on Wikipedia, while Jay-Z may soon become Shawn Knowles-Carter.

This story seems to have sprouted from a source allegedly close to the couple revealing the news to UK’s Daily Star.

“They want to keep Knowles because Bey’s parents didn’t have any sons and they’re keen to keep the name going strong, especially if they don’t produce any sprogs themselves. Or if they end up just having girls,” the anonymous source revealed.

This rumor of Beyonce, 28, and husband Jay-Z, 40, exchanging names follows behind the news of Tina and Matthew Knowles, Beyonce’s parents divorcing after 29 years of marriage. Tina Knowles, 55, and Mathew Knowles, 58, married in 1980.

The news came Friday, December 18, 2009, as reported on www.HipHopRX.com that Tina Knowles filed for divorce, immediately following rumors that Mathew Knowles was cheating on the ‘down low.’

Mathew Knowles is most known as the manager of Destiny’s Child as well as daughters Beyonce Knowles and Solange Knowles, 23, whose son, Daniel Julez Smith, Jr, has the surname of his father, Daniel Smith whom Solange married at age 17 in February 2004 but later divorced.

Jay-Z and Beyonce who is reportedly on holiday vacation in the Maldives, according to AllHipHop, has had no official comments released as of yet regarding the reported exchange of surnames.
