Rapper Eminem Had Elton John To Thank For Kicking Drug Addiction: More Details

In May, Eminem admitted to taking as many as twenty Vicodin, Ambien and Valium a day. He told Vibe Magazine, “It’s no secret I had a drug problem. The numbers got so high, I don’t even know what I was taking.”
After going to rehab in 2005, the rapper, 37, said he nearly overdosed after being given a little blue pill. A doctor later informed him that the drug he had ingested was actually Methadone, a substitute for Heroin.
John didn’t go into much detail, but did confirm that the rapper had gone to rehab in ‘05 for a sleeping pill addiction, causing a three year interruption in his music career. Elton John went through a similar struggle but says he’s been sober since the 80’s.
“I’ve been helping Eminem over the last eighteen months, and he’s doing brilliantly,” Sir Elton told BBC Radio 5 Live Show’s Danny Baker.
Doing much better now, Eminem, born as Marshall Mathers, has made a come-back this year starring on hit singles with artists such as Drake and Kanye West.
