Video of Olympic athlete Nodar Kumaritashvili’s deadly luge crash leaks on the internet. The video of Nodar Kumaritashvili deadly Olympic Luge Crash has since been removed by YouTube.com but was later restored by the Associated Press on Saturday, Feb. 13th. A number of media outlets posted the footage of Nodar doing what he does best when he tragically lost his life living out his dream.
The International Olympic Committee released a statement about Nodar Kumaritashvili, who was killed during a Winter Olympic luge training session in where he was ejected from his sled, hitting a steel pole. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
“Our first thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the athlete,” stated Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee. Rogge adds that the “tragedy” has “clearly cast[ed] a shadow over these Games.”
Following Associated Press who restored the video of the deadly crash on Youtube.com which was removed once again, the Nodar Kumaritashvili Luge crash video later appeared again on video site LiveLeak.com but has since been removed as well.
Now, according to NY Times, Olympic athlete Werner Hoeger had warned Canadian officials about the safety hazards of the course at the Whistler Sliding Center. Werner Hoeger sent warnings claiming the track course was unsafe in a series of letters and e-mail correspondence. This now has many wondering was the crash/death of Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, actually preventable by Hoeger’s warnings and were they ignored? Kumaritashvili was exceeding 90 miles an hour at the time of his crash into a steel support, according to reports.

i feel so so so so so so so so so bad for the guy who died in the winter olympics during the luge. First of all, that pole that he hit should have been padded or something. i feel so bad for the family also. I think the guy who died was just talking to his dad about how he thought the track was dangerous and that he was scared. How cowinsidental it was for the guy to die the day after he said that to his father. I didnt see what happened but i heard it and my family was talking about it. if this goes to the family please tell them I’m so sorry.
Sincerley,
Madison
p.s. the family can email if they want. my email is . thank you
