Actor and martial artist Wesley Snipes, 48, reported to prison for his 3 year jail sentence for tax evasion. Snipes reported to the McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Lewis Run, Pennsylvania and turned in his civilian clothes for prison attire.
Wesley Snipes made several attempts to escape the terms of his sentence by submitting appeals after being convicted in 2008 for failing to file his income taxes from 1999 through 2004, filing a false refund claim for the years 1996-1997 and for conspiring to defraud the government, as reported on www.HipHopRx.com.
During his prison term, Wesley Snipes will assume the identity of Prisons inmate No. 43355-018 in minimum security prison camp dubbed “Club Fed,” according to ABC, due to it being one of the nicer prisons for white-collar male prisoners who live dormitory-style.
Meanwhile, Snipes doesn’t believe he deserves time in jail and says that he found out that the system didn’t work for him and is more disappointed than anything.

You know I hear paying your taxes keeps you out of jail, I’ve been doing it since I was sixteen and it has worked out well for me.
You people keep giving this man a bad rep!
He was not sentenced to prison for TAXEVASION…. He got sentenced for not filing taxes!!!!
THIS IS UNJUST as society gets misinformed…he should not have recieved such a harsh sentence…..
WORD
Why should artists pay tax? Society generally ignores them until they make money anyway. You work your backside off for years with zero income and no help, then as soon as the money rolls in the government takes it away from you. If the government gave artists money to get started then we’d be happy to pay it back with interest when successful!
Another message to the black people of America. The prisons were built for you. Sorry, that you weren’t the right color to get the get out of jail free card. Did you know that 70% of the people in
prison are black? I continue to watch the failure of justice for black people everywhere. The
schools, workplaces, stores, housing, and in health care. Oprah with 2.5 billion builds a school
for black girls, oh not in America. Why is it the the “WHITE” athlete, from parents who came to
build a future in America is taking care of more black children than any black sports figure, or
actor. Hats off America to the Aundre Aggassi Foundation!! Helping the children in the U.S.A.
will make for a better country. We need to feed our own, house our own, take care of our own!
Wake up America, if you don’t educate the children then we will continue to have a circle of
violence. When the people lead, the leaders will follow. Can you make a difference, so what
has happened to Wesley will not continue to happen to others. I thought our prisons were over
crowded, so now we put someone in prison that should have gotten probation. This is a country
where justice is for some, but not for all. Ask Wesley Snipes.
Oh I so disagree with part of your comment I totally agree about taking care of America, and Andre Agassi in my opo deserves a huge award for all he is doing its sad that more don’t do the same. Brad Pitt has done so much for the people who lost their homes in Katrina, however putting this in the same category as Wesley makes no sense, had he followed the laws and paid his taxes like all “normal” people do he’d not be in this situation, I for one applaud the law for insisting he serve some time. Do you really believe he’ll serve anywhere near three years I don’t they just want to make sure he doesn’t try to pull anything like this again and I bet he won’t. Ofcourse I feel bad for him but with all of his money he won’t have a hardtime, he’ll have just about anything and everything he wants except he’ll not be able to sleep in his huge mansion. I so don’t get how you can feel sorry for him to the extent you do, unless ofcourse you live in his “neighbourhood” then Oh how I get you!
