Ashley Judd Issues Out Apology for Her Recent Statements About Hip-Hop
Ashley Judd says she’s deeply remorseful about the comments she made in her memoir regarding the mistreatment of women in rap lyrics.
“As far as I’m concerned, most rap and hip-hop music — with its rape culture and insanely abusive lyrics and depictions of girls and women as ‘ho’s’ — is the contemporary soundtrack of misogyny,” Judd Wrote in her book, All That Is Bitter and Sweet.
Now, in a new blog post the actress has changed her tune: “I am deeply remorseful that anything I may have said in All That Is Bitter & Sweet would hurt adherents of genres that represent their culture,” she wrote.
Judd added that after reviewing feedback about her comments, that she should’ve said some hip-hop, and some rap, is abusive. “Crucial words are missing that could have made a giant difference,” she wrote.
Judd’s book also made headlines recently after she admitted she was a victim of sexual abuse as a child.
Whatever her intentions were at the time, her feelings probably played a big role on what she said. Sometimes it’s not about making mistakes but rather recognizing them and being able to learn from them.
