Mary J Blige Responds About The Charity Incident
As we reported Mary J Blige’s charity had been under scrutiny for not paying off some of it’s loans which lead many to believe that some money had gone missing. Now the R&B singer speaks out about the mishandling of funds for her charity.
Mary’s foundation was hit with a $250,000 lawsuit recently, but Mary does not take full blame for it as she says the fault lies with the people who were handling her finances poorly.
Mary and the Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women (FFAWN) is being sued by TD Bank over a loan the organization took out in June 2011 for a quarter million dollars.
TMZ reports that FFAWN agreed to repay the loan by December 2011 but so far have only paid $368.33. This really indicates that something fishy is going on as it is not only a very small portion of the payment, but attempts were never made to clear the debt.
‘As Founder and CEO of FFAWN, I am ultimately responsible for anything that goes wrong,’ Mary said in a statement.
‘The problem is that I didn’t have the right people in the right places doing the right things. This should have never been allowed to happen, but it did and now we are fixing it.’
Good news is that Mary is now working with a new team of experts to ‘get the Foundation back on track and make good on all of FFAWN’s obligations.’
So now will just have to wait and see if this is settled in or out of court.
