Beanie Sigel has been the last artist to get some time off from hi recording career thanks in part to the IRS as he will spend two years in prison for failing to pay federal income taxes.
The latest news is that Beanie Sigel has been sentenced to two years in prison for failing to pay more than $728,000 in federal income taxes. Now that’s now just some pocket change for these artist, but most usually reach some type of agreement with the IRS before they are sent to the big house.
According to MyFox5, Beanie Sigel will have to spend two years in prison for failing to file taxes between the years 1999 and 2005. They hope that this will be a clear message to other artists who are also failing to pay their taxes. In August 2011, he pleaded guilty to tax evasion.
Sigel faced up to three years in prison. In 2004, he was sentenced to prison for possession of a gun and drugs. He returned to jail in 2008 for violating his parole three times, and is also currently facing a suit stemming from a shooting incident outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s Power 99.
Sigel must report to prison on September 12th.
