What Would Hip Hop Be Without Eminem?
Ever since Eminem hit the rap scene he took lyricism a whole new level, which brings about the question where would rap and hip hop be if Eminem would have never made it big?
Interesting point about all this is that Slim Shady almost Rap after bombing his first live performance.
There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Eminem is one of the best emcees of all time and he is also one of the world’s highest selling emcees, but just like everyone else Eminem started from the bottom and even failed a few times. The List reports that Marshall Mathers actually almost gave up on his career before it even started.
Eminem says that he was on the brink of quitting rap after getting booed off stage at his first live performance. With time he was able to shake the incident off and worked past it only to grab the mic once again. He does admit that rapping has been his driving force in life and helped him come back from his lowest moments.
“The first time I rapped in front of actual people that mattered, in a club, I got booed. And it was very traumatic for me,” he said.
“I just remember it being so fu**ing traumatic, and I think I went home and I was like, man, I quit. And you know a week later, a day later, an hour later I got the urge, and I was like, I gotta get up, I gotta do it again.”
He went on to say, “I certainly feel like if it wasn’t for Rap, obviously, I wouldn’t be here, but it gave me my voice, it gave me my outlook, it gave me strength, you know what I came back from, overdose and a whole load of shit – without rap I wouldn’t be able to do a fu**ing thing.”
I guess this is just another reminder to everyone out there who is working on their dreams. No matter how hard you fall you have to get back up and chase that dream. And know that the path to get what you desire will always be a hard one. If it was easy everyone would attain greatness, but remember anyone can attain greatness.
