Busta Rhymes - White Suit
On yesterday, Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Shawndya Simpson ruled that prosecutors could not charge Busta Rhymes (Trevor Smith) with possession of a weapon, after a machete was found in his SUV following an arrest on an assault charge. The case began after the rapper was arrested back in 2007 on charges stemming from a man who reported that the rapper assaulted him and who was accused of spitting on Smith’s car. At the time of the arrest, police found a machete in the seat pocket of his SUV.

Rapper Busta Rhymes “Trevor Smith”, 34, has been ordered to pay $100,000 dollars to a fan who claimed the rapper attacked him in New York in 2005.

Melvin Smith’s lawyer presented to the judge that Busta Rhymes and his bodyguard Troy Green attacked his client which required him to need stitches for a wound below his eye. Busta Rhymes and his bodyguard allegedly beat him after he asked for an autograph. Melvin Smith’s lawyer stated that Rhymes had been served with the fine after repeatedly ignoring the law suit filed against him.

Bruce Regenstreich says, “We served Busta Rhymes in every location that we had for him. He just ignored the summonses.”

Busta Rhymes’ bodyguard Troy Green was charged criminally over the incident, however Busta Rhymes was not.

The hip-hop rap star also spent time in police custody earlier this week after a former employee claimed to have been assaulted by him when he came to collect his payment.

Busta Rhymes Faces 6 Months In Jail On Weapons Charge

Busta Rhymes “Trevor Smith”, 34, was charged with a misdemeanor weapons charge on December 11 for being in possession of a machete who is also accused of a felony assault and harassment after police searched his car. Cops found the 10 inch machete in the seat pocket of the SUV when they busted Busta Rhymes for the alleged beating Roberto Lebron when he was arrested in August.

Busta Rhymes’ lawyer Scott Leemon said the knife was “a prop” and did not warrant a criminal charge.

Busta Rhymes has refused Manhattan prosecutors’ plea offer of six months in jail on charges of misdemeanor assault for the August incident. He has already been charged previously for beating up Roberto Lebron for spitting on his car causing him to get a misdemeanor.

During an October court hearing, Judge Shawndya Simpson dropped the charges of possession of a weapon, however the District Attorney’s Office recently filed a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession and the charges were reinstated. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is stated to be pursuing assault and harassment charges dating back to August 12.

Busta Rhymes’ lawyer, Robert Kalina, calls the case “selective prosecution” of a rap star. On the other hand, prosecutors argue that six months is too light of a sentence considering his history of violence “status as a violent predicate felon.”.

Busta Rhymes is expected back in court on February 20, 2007.

Sydney Fans Think Busta Rhymes Is A Busta

Busta Rhymes
For the second time in two years, Busta Rhymes has let down Australian fans. This time the blame is outrageous demands were made by his management which prompted the cancellation of the concert which the promoter, PDA Touring has stated.

Inside sources state that Busta Rhymes never intended to perform for his Sydney Australian fans even though it was confirmed and then listed on his official website.

Does it have to do with his past tour in 2004, and not making sure that his entourage had proper papers to enter the state? Because of the incident it led them to being detained at the airport for hours because of their immigration issues and Busta Rhymes left without any notice leaving fans unhappy.

Even though Busta Rhymes was a no show this time again, fans will receive all monies due to them.
