Janet Jackson announced on Monday, September 22nd that she will no longer be a part of the Island Def Jam Records roster after 14 months. According to the singer’s publicist the label agreed to dissolve the relationship upon Jackson’s request after the label failed to promote her album and meet her expectations.

R&B singer Christina Milian Signs With MySpace Records
R&B singer-songwriter/actress Christina Milian has signed a record deal with MySpace Records. Milian is currently working on her fourth studio album, which is due out next spring. According to Milian, Myspace is allowing her to write a majority of the songs for the album which is allowing her to do a number of different things creatively.

Travis Barker and DJ AM Listed As Critical But Stable After Plane Crash
Travis Barker, 32, ex-husband of former Miss USA Shanna Moakler and the drummer formally for the rock band Blink 182 was recently in a plane accident in South Carolina that killed four people and critically injured Barker and DJ AM (Adam Goldstein former boyfriend of Nicole Richie) Friday night. The Learjet 60 that the musician boarded following a college concert crashed shortly before midnight Friday in Columbia, S.C, killing Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City (Barker’s personal assistant) and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles whom were both members of Barker’s entourage, as well as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills and co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, CA.

Missy Elliott’s Block Party Album Delayed
Although Missy Elliott was eyeing an August release and then a September release for her upcoming studio album “Block Party, it has been pushed back to November 11th. Missy Elliot’s album “Block Party” features production from Souldiggaz, Danjahandz, Pharrell, T-Pain, Pointguard and Timbaland with an appearance by Melanie B (Melanie Brown/Spice Girls) amongst others.
When describing the album, Missy Elliot states it is hip-hop with some U.K. hip-hop sound to it and that the album will have quite a few dance tracks on it.
The lead single for the album “Ching-a-Ling” made it rounds on January 9, 2008, and managed to make the lead single for the soundtrack of Step Up 2 the Streets.
First Issue of the Danity Kane Comic Preview
Danity Kane will now have their very own alter ego comic book with the first issue due out September 29. “She’s a superheroine who can control the world with her voice,” Dawn Richard told MTV. The comic book is expected to be put out one issue each quarter on the Internet, for at least five issues, with the fourth quarter issue produced in a manga style.
